With the help of a monetary investment on the part of Vodafone Malta Foundation, the children in care at St Joseph Home in Zabbar can now play and exercise in a brand new gym and sports room. The room has been decked out with equipment and tools so that the children can now share quality time, as well as fit in some exercise during their day.
Funds allocated by the Foundation went towards an active bubble column, soft mats for the floors, an aroma sound spa, a wall maze, magnetic objects and unbreakable mirrors. “Finally we can now offer our children a safe place where to play, interact and more importantly adopt behaviours that contribute toward fostering a healthy lifestyle,” said Sr Angelina Cutajar O.P., Head and Administrator of the House. “We have achieved this with the generous help of the Vodafone Malta Foundation”.
Gemma Mifsud Bonnici, Chairperson Vodafone Malta Foundation expressed her satisfaction at the well-executed project. “We are keen to see the children reap the benefits of our investment. We understand that vulnerable groups need more support in gaining access to important opportunities for life and we’re happy that our commitments contribute toward this.”
St Joseph Home in Zabbar has been established since 1937 and offers a residential service on a 24 hour basis to children that would need care away from their families because of social problems. The residence takes boys up to 11 years of age while girls can stay on as long as they wish.
