As Grand Harbour Marina in Vittoriosa continues its spell of attracting some of the most beautiful boats from around the world, for the coming two months it will be the address of yet another luxury sailing boat, the Zaca A Te Moana, a twin masted classic schooner flying the Dutch flag.

Skippered by French captain Patrick De Radigues who leads a team of nine professional crew, Zaca A Te Moana left Monastir in Tunisia in January and berthed at Grand Harbour Marina where she will be spending the next few weeks.

Built in 1992 at the yard of Scheepswerf De Amstel, Zaca A Te Moana is 43.8m long and was designed by naval architect Olivier F Van Meer. Zaca A Te Moana is also powered by Rolls Royce engines and makes way with an economical cruising speed of approximately 10 knots. Its two masts of 38 metres and 35 metres are made of Oregon pine and all sails add up to around 12,000 square metres!

“Zaca A Te Moana is a very special schooner not only because of the unique experience it offers on the sea but also because nowadays, sailing a classic schooner is the ultimate achievement for any captain,” explains Patrick De Radigues, the boat’s captain for the past five years.

“This achievement is also very much felt when every year we participate in a number of regular and very prestigious classic boat regattas and sailing challenges such as the Transatlantic Race and the Vendé Globe, a round the world race without any stop overs.”

“Hosting such a beautiful schooner as the Zaca A Te Moana at Grand Harbour Marina makes us proud,” states Ben Stuart, Marina Manager at Grand Harbour Marina.

Set against the natural backdrop of the Grand Harbour and Fort St Angelo, berthing at Grand Harbour Marina means having a very unique address that comes with a lot of high quality amenities and the complete service that our staff is capable of offering to all the boat owners at our marina. Our marina regularly hosts some of the most beautiful boats in the world and we are proud to welcome Zaca A Te Moana to Malta, indeed a lovely sight on our waters,” added Mr Stuart.
