Bank of Valletta and the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra have signed a collaboration agreement aimed at bringing the orchestra closer to the Maltese public.

This is the third consecutive year that BOV is collaborating closely with the MPO. During the first two years the objective was to equip the orchestra with a Harpsichord and a Grand Piano, enabling the Orchestra to broaden its repertoire. This year, will see Bank of Valletta and the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra working together on an education programme which will make music more enticing for the younger generations.

The agreement was signed by Mr Kenneth B Micallef, Head CEO’s Office at Bank of Valletta and the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra Chairman and Director Dr. James Scerri Worley at Robert Samut Hall in Floriana.“This year’s collaboration agreement aims to consolidate Bank of Valletta’s commitment towards creating a greater awareness about the local arts and culture”, said Mr Micallef. “This year’s emphasis will be on instilling a love for music in our children from a very young age through performances aimed at a younger audience”.

“The Malta Philharmonic Orchestra’s calendar for this year is one of the busiest ever”, said Dr Scerri Worley. “Our performances throughout the year feature a wide range of musical genres, ranging from classic, religious and modern to enhance the Orchestra’s appeal with our different audiences”. The Malta Philarmonic Orchestra’s performance of Peter and the Wolf by Sergei Prokofiev and the Young People’s Guide to the Orchestra by Benjamin Britten held at the Mediterranean Conference Centre was very well received by the Maltese public.
