Yellow Pages (Malta) Ltd has recently installed a Photovoltaic system that includes 300+ panels, resorting to EU, national and private own funding to carry out the project. The expensive project was conducted under the Operational Program 1 – Cohesion Policy 2007-2013 that aims to help sustain such projects undertaken by local companies.
The installed PV system capacity is 46kW which at peak solar radiation can yield over 40kW of electrical energy. This is estimated to be equivalent to the instantaneous power required by over 80 standard households. Alternately one can estimate the equivalent power required to light up 2,666 street decoration lamps, or the energy to substitute 5,700 household energy saving lamps.
Yellow Pages (Malta) Ltd are reckoning the system will provide the annual total of 62 MegaWattHours or 62 thousand units, which is well over the annual consumption of more than 12 normal apartments. The aim is to save energy, it is estimated that the whole system shall save over 55 thousand tons of C02 emission per annum.
The Photovoltaic system is presently feeding over 65% of the air-conditioning load required for the Ark Publishing complex and is another way for the company to continue with its pledge to help in substantially supporting the immediate environment within which it operates.
