Italian singing superstar Zucchero has included Malta in his ‘Chocabeck’ World Tour 2011, with a concert at the MFCC Open Grounds on Saturday 30 July.

Released late last year, his album ‘Chocabeck’ has gone multi-platinum, and songs from this album will feature in the concert together with many of his greatest hits.

Antonella Vassallo, director of Stand Out Events, which is organising the concert, said preparations have been in hand for the past two months. Amabile Zammit and Reuben Caruana are in charge of logistics.

“This will be a top class performance, with Zucchero accompanied by an 11-piece band,” Ms Vassallo said at a press conference announcing the concert, yesterday.

Two supporting bands, details of which will be announced at a later stage, will be performing an hour before the concert.

The artist has written over 300 songs and released 15 studio albums, apart from working with many world-famous artists including Sting, Eric Clapton, Paul Young and Luciano Pavarotti. His music is largely inspired by blues and rock, and has been delighting his fans for more than three decades.

The world tour started last month in Switzerland and Zucchero has since performed in France, Belgium, Holland, Germany, the UK and Austria. It started with a sell-out concert in Zurich and 12,000 people reportedly attended.

Tickets for the concert, starting from €25 for Bronze, and €35 for Silver, both standing, go on sale on Tuesday. The Gold tickets, costing €60, are seated.

Platinum VIP tickets, will be sold at €200 and include free parking, a DVD, a CD, an autographed photo, and, above all, meeting and greeting Zucchero at the MFCC before the concert with a Martini welcome drink and an After Party VIP Treat at the same venue.

The Bronze and Silver tickets are on sale from the MFCC, all GO outlets, Franks Perfumery at BayStreet, the Plaza and in Paola, FarsonsDirect and at The Store in Mrieħel.
