HSBC Long service employees contribute to charity

Malta Independent Wednesday, 15 June 2011, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

A group of long service employees at HSBC Malta marked their 35 years of service at the Bank with a donation to the Malta Community Chest Fund. The donation – consisting of funds raised by the employees and doubled by the Bank – was presented by HSBC Malta CEO Alan Richards to a Malta Community Chest Fund representative at the Verdala Castle in Buskett.

The HSBC employees also symbolically planted a tree to celebrate the event, which coincided with World Environment Day. 2011 has been declared by the United Nations as the ‘International Year of Forests’ and throughout the world the HSBC Group is encouraging its thousands of employees to uncover the hidden value of their local forests. In Malta, HSBC celebrated the Day at Buskett, the only large woodland area on the island.

“HSBC owes much of its success in Malta to the dedication of its staff and I am delighted that we have been able to celebrate the important milestone of 35 years service, for this distinguished group of employees, with a donation to the Malta Community Chest Fund.” said Alan Richards, HSBC’s Chief Executive Officer.
