The 18th edition of the Lufthansa Cargo Awards took place on 24 May at the exclusive Grill 3301 of the Corinthia Hotel at St George’s Bay.

Forwarding agents and prominent shippers were invited to this event which has been held annually for the last 18 years. Silver, Gold and Bronze awards were rewarded to customers who have contributed to the success of Lufthansa Cargo in 2010.

This yearly event is an occasion which brings the local members of the air cargo industry together. Other members from stakeholders coming from Malta International Airport, Maltese customs authority, OMAS, Air Malta ramp and warehouse department also joined the Maltese cargo community for this special night.

Thomas Egenolf, Director Italy & Malta, highlighted the fact that the way of cooperation between Lufthansa Cargo and the logistic community in Malta and the willingness to drive innovations such as eFreight is exceptional.

Tony Mifsud, Manager and country representative of Lufthansa Cargo in Malta thanked the clients for their support during a very positive year for Lufthansa Cargo and mentioned the fact that during the introduction phase of the eFreight Lufthansa Cargo was the leading carrier in this project. Lufthansa Cargo now carries 100% eFreight documents on its flights from Malta to all EU destinations and Malta is now the number one eFreight station in Europe in terms of paperless AWB share. This result was achieved thanks to all stakeholders mentioned before, including the Malta Communication Authority and the MITA.
