TMIS interviews 38-year-old David Farrugia, taking part in this season’s Liquorish, which took the participants to Madagascar, in the Indian Ocean
Do you have any children?
I have a son, Keith Farrugia, He is 13 years old - very into sports, loves drama and playing the guitar...we are so proud of him. We spend a lot of time together fishing on the boat.
What is your favourite food?
Pasta and I won’t change it with any other food, I simply love it. I love traditional Maltese food as well.
Why did you decide to apply for Liquorish?
I love challenges so I said why not? Let’s give it a try.
What was the best moment for you during this adventure?
Seeing the waterfalls was a beautiful moment but I would have to say that my whole stay and our adventures in Mauritius were amazing.
What was the worst moment for you?
Travelling on the train; as we say ‘kiefra wisq’ (it was too cruel) plus I hate travelling long hours let alone in those condition.
Would you do it again?
I would but next time with the wife. My wife loves these kind of adventures.
When did you start acting?
I started at a young age, at school but these last ten years I started to take acting seriously.
Do you act on stage or on TV?
I started at the Oratorju Dun Bosco in B’Kara and to this day I still take part in several stage productions at Centru Karmelitani in B’Kara. I’ve also had small parts in TV dramas.
Did the other participants ever think you were acting or being yourself?
No, I hope they don’t think I was acting.
Who would you take with you on another adventure and who would you leave behind?
That’s easy...I would definately take Sam with me, and definately leave Sabrina out!
Was it hard leaving a son behind?
It was emotionally difficult especially when it was my son’s 13th birthday .I have never missed his birthday before, and was always there for him. He started hanging out with friends now but still it’s nice to celebrate a birthday with the family.
Who do you think will be the top three?
Sam, Muxu and Debbie.
David loves the Maltese language and doesn’t really tolerate any English speaking Maltese people...so his last comment is in Maltese: “Nixtieq nigbed l-attenzjoni u nirsisti li l-participanti jitkellmu bil-Malti...minn hawn nixtieq niringrazzja lill-Liquorish talli tawni din l-opportunita’ mill-isbah gewwa Madagascar u Mauritius, grazzi mill-qalb.”
(I would like to draw attention and insist that participants should speak in Maltese. I heartfully thank the producers of Liquorish for this wonderful opportunity in Madgascar and Mauritius.)
