The Confederation of Malta Trade Unions – CMTU expressed support for the repeated claims of its affiliate, the Emergency Nurses Union, about the need urgently to address a serious long standing requirement relating to overcrowding in the Emergency Department at Mater Dei Hospital, “which has been at breakpoint for quite some time”.

More serious is the hardship and the humiliation a patient suffers as a consequence of this congestion, the CMTU said, appealing to the health authorities to work hard to find a quick solution ensuring that basic decent facilities are provided till a long term arrangement is in place.
