They are being dubbed as the arguably greatest-ever combination of opera singers to grace an opera stage in Malta. Tenor Neil Shicoff, Soprano Michele Crider and baritone Juan Pons, are set to appear in the three leading roles of Tosca at the Aurora Theatre in Gozo, this October.
This news is being revealed as an early-bird ticket offer of a 10% reduction comes to an end on 22 August. Tickets are priced at €70, €60 and €45.
The three artistes feature regularly on the most prestigious opera stages around the globe. While needing no introductions, their names are recurringly found at the Metropolitan Opera (New York), Royal Opera House Covent Garden (London), State Opera Houses (Vienna), and the Teatro alla Scala (Milan) amongst other lavish venues. Worth a mention is Shicoff’s and Crider’s participation in Tosca in Vienna last opera season. Michele Crider is one of today’s pre-eminent dramatic sopranos of her generation. She has been making her mark on both the operatic and concert stages of the world in a remarkably wide repertoire. Juan Pons and Neil Shicoff have been dominating the New York’s Met Opera stage for a good number of years with no sign of diminishing splendour as they are still securing leading roles in the most important opera houses of the world, to date.
Tosca, an opera in three acts, will be presented at the Teatru tal-Opra Aurora (Victoria, Gozo) on 15 October under the distinguished patronage of President George Abela. The Malta Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by resident conductor Colin Attard will participate. Novella Tabili has been, once more, entrusted with the set designs and artistic direction.
