From today to Sunday, McDonald’s Malta will be supporting the UNESCO ‘Clean Up the World’ in both Malta and Gozo. The management and employees in all eight McDonald’s restaurants will be joining forces with their Local Councils and local communities such as Scouts to clean up specific areas in the vicinity of each McDonald’s Restaurant. The general public is also being invited to join in this effort and they can team up with McDonalds Gozo and MIA today, McDonald’s Plaza, Valletta, Bay Street and Bugibba tomorrow and St Julian’s and Birkirkara on Sunday. “Preventing litter is ultimately an individual responsibility. However, we believe that McDonald’s restaurants are, by their nature, sociable places, intrinsically linked to local community life. As such, we recognize that we need to support our community by undertaking and involve ourselves in these types of activities. As part of McDonald’s social responsibility, the development of environmental programs is an ongoing process. In fact in recent years, McDonald’s Malta has introduced different initiatives in favour of the environment. Two major steps stones in this program include the recycling of its used cooking oil into bio-diesel fuel and the collecting of outer cardboard and plastic form all 8 restaurants, which is then passed on to Green Pak for recycling.
