Music At Notte Bianca

Music of various genres being performed in open air spaces in Valletta is one of the many attractions during Notte Bianca. There will be music from folk to contemporary, and classical to pop. With music in 24 venues visitors will undoubtedly be spoilt for choice.

StageCraft, The Myth, 2inJoy, Indigo, Explicit, The Creepers and Texana will perform at the Upper Barrakka Gardens from 6pm onwards. Voca will be holding a choral performance at the Old Opera House followed by Novum Ensemble. Students from the School of Music will perform in the foyer of Palazzo Ferreria, the Ministry of Education, Employment and the Family in Republic Street. Ċentru Servizz Anzjan at 3 Old Mint Street will feature music by Noel Mifsud Matrenza and Clifford. The Van Doorn Van Vugt Quartet, a jazz group from Utrecht, will perform at the National Museum of Fine Arts at South Street. A Chamber Concert by The Cosmos Wind Quartet will be held at the Ministry of Finance, the Economy and Investment, South Street. Corazon Mizzi and The Crowns will perform at the Workers’ Memorial Building, South Street. There will be Classical Music by Gaudos Duo at the Auberge d’Italie in Merchants Street every hour from 6.30pm. The Police Band under the direction of Senior Inspector Anthony Cassar will perform at St John’s Square. Michaela Rabitsch and Robert Pawlik Duo will perform at Strait Street between St John’s and Melita Street. At the Great Siege Square there will be performances by Albert Callus, Cryptic Street, the Symphonic Choir, and a Serata Naplitana by the Valletta Dramatic Company. Clifford Borg will give a piano recital at the Casino Maltese. The Nick & Jon Show will be held at Badass Café’, Old Theatre Street. Beatles Mania will be music by Mark Spiteri at Strait Street c/w Old Theatre.

At the Sala Isouard, Manoel Theatre there will be piano and vocal recitals by Roseanne Bellizzi and Bernard Busuttil and Kimberly Marie Grech and Elizabeth Leonardi. Also at the Manoel Theatre there will be a vocal and instrumental concert of popular classics by the University Junior College Orchestra and classical and cabaret vocal selections by Claire Ghigo. At Independence Square there will be Maltese ghana, the Ta’ Verna Folk Band and Joseph and the amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. At the Exchange Building there will be Valletta 2018 hosted by the Inter-Ministerial Commission for the European Capital of Culture 2018. A concert by the Malta Youth Orchestra entitled 5 centuries – 5 countries, with 30-minute performances starting at 8pm, 9pm, 10pm and 11pm featuring works by Charpentier, Albinoni, Nicolo Isouard, W.A. Mozart, Adam, Hans Zimmer. Sultans of the City, a percussion concert, will be held at St George’s Square. The fourth edition of Leone Goes Pop with the Leone Band Club, Gozo will be held at The President’s Palace. There will be a Jazz Band at San Paolo Naufrago, St Lucia Street.

Mikaela Attard, X-Vandals, Cable 35, The Areola Treat, NoSnow/NoAlps, Frenzy Mono, Skimmed and Dolls for Idols will perform at the Lower Barrakka Gardens. At the Bridge Bar and Victoria Gate area there will be jazz sessions by Christabelle Curmi. The Acoustic Bands 12th Ode, Yanika and Dylan, Martin McNeil and The Dissidents and DiCa will perform at Santa Croce private Chapel, 96 St Ursola Street

Traditional feast bands will march in various streets. The feast bands participating in Notte Bianca are Valletta’s King’s Own Band Club, Soc. Fil. Naz. La Valette, Banda San Ġwann, Attard’s La Stella Levantina and Naxxar’s Għaqda Mużikali Vittorja.
