Mepa To decide on Gozo Cittadella master plan

The Mepa board is on Thursday due to deliberate and decide on an outline application for the Master Plan for the restoration, upgrading and rehabilitation of the Gozo Cittadella.

The board will also discuss and decide on a second related application, this time relating to a proposed visitors’ centre at the Cittadella reservoir in It-Telgħa tal-Belt in Victoria.

Meanwhile, Mepa has recently approved the installation of a prototype wind turbine for testing purposes at the Government Experimental Farm at Għammieri.

Mepa has also approved the construction of residential units for the homeless proposed by Fr Savio Vella, including an extension and minor alterations to an existing dwelling in Triq is-Sorijiet corner with Triq Imrabat in Sliema.

Mepa has rejected an application for the extension of the Arkadia commercial centre in Victoria through the construction of a receded floor over the existing building.

Among the new applications that have been submitted, an application has been made for the restoration and extension of an existing ex-lodging house in Strait Street, Valletta to be revived as a lodging house with an additional storey and roof garden.

The Transport Ministry has applied for the removal of the existing road and pavement surface on the east part of St James Ditch together with the removal of the existing ficus trees abutting St James Counterguard, and the removal of an existing building on the site.

The Mellieħa Holiday Centre has applied for the extension of the existing building and the addition of an external pool.

An application has been submitted for the restoration of Villa Fieres in St Julian’s, including internal alterations, the construction of a lift and the reinstatement of a dismantled portico.

An application has also been submitted for the restoration of Palazzo Pescatore in St Paul’s Bay.
