Eight local companies operating in the food and beverages industry were assisted by Malta Enterprise to showcase their products at one of the largest fairs for this industry on a global level, the Anuga fair in Cologne, Germany.

Representatives of the companies were kept busy throughout the fair, as many of the roughly 150,000 people who visited the fair over a five-day period sought to have a taste of the products being promoted, which amongst others included traditional Maltese food.

With 300,000 square metres of ideas, inspiration and innovations, the Anuga fair is the perfect venue for its 6,500 exhibitors to present the latest trends and themes.

Besides reaching their target export markets through the fair, which amongst others include retail trade, food and beverage services as well as catering, the participating companies also get the possibility to network with each other and establish good contacts or business leads with a view to reaching some form of collaborative agreement.

Anuga’s trade fair concept is unique, bringing supply and demand together in ten specialized trade shows under one roof, sharpening each sector’s profile and generating valuable synergies at the same time.

Through its presence at the fair with a stand in the International Hall, Malta Enterprise sought to promote Malta as an ideal trade and investment location.

Four companies, namely Federated Mills, Golden Harvest, Jubilee Foods, and Ta’ Mena exhibited on the Malta Stand, while a further four companies - Borg and Aquilina, Consolidated Biscuits, Foster Clark, and James Caterers took up an individual stand.

The companies reported very encouraging prospects and noted that Malta Enterprise’s support – which forms part of the Corporation’s assistance for trade promotion – was very valuable and indeed facilitated their presence at the fair.
