Air Malta employee Ing. Leslie Caruana has won this year’s International Federation of Airworthiness (IFA) scholarship. The scholarship offers IFA Members, including Air Malta, the opportunity to nominate individuals within their organisation to receive airworthiness training. Such training is aimed to improve their understanding of safety related issues in commercial aviation.

The award allows for funding up to £3,500 to enable the winner to attend a recognised international airworthiness course. Ing. Caruana, who was selected amongst five nominees, will utilise the scholarship to attend the Joint Aviation Authority’s Airworthiness Course being held in Holland in November 2011.

Silvio Falzon, Air Malta Chief Engineer commented, “Air Malta is honoured to have its nomination selected for this year’s IFA Scholarship Award. It has always been the airline’s policy to promote the highest levels of safety. The IFA strives to seek continuous improvement in airworthiness not only to encourage people to seek careers in aviation, but also to assist them in gaining knowledge and understanding of the issues relating to airworthiness.
