Europe’s finest developers, architects, interior designers and real estate agents recently gathered at The Park Lane Hotel in Mayfair, London on Friday September 23rd for the announcement of the winners of the hotly contested European Property Awards.
Against tough competition from top developments situated throughout the Mediterranean and the continent, Tigné Point by Midi plc was awarded Best Mixed-Use Development in Europe. As a result, MIDI’s Tigne Point has also secured the privilege of representing Europe in the mixed-use category during the International Property Awards, World’s Best 2011 in London next December.
Earlier this year, the results of the Asia Pacific Property Awards were revealed in Shanghai, where leading property professionals from across China, Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand and many other countries in the region competed for the top awards in several categories.
Both of these individual programs form important elements of the International Property Awards in association with Bloomberg Television and Google. Established 17 years ago, they are the world’s most prestigious property competition and cover residential as well as commercial categories. Judging is carried out through a meticulous process involving a panel of over 80 experts and covering every aspect of the property business. The judges are not only looking for the most impressive and innovative projects, they are also examining the sustainability of every property and development that comes under their scrutiny.
It’s going to be interesting to see how well Europe competes internationally as the next stage is for the top-scoring winners from each category of the European Property Awards to literally take on the world by competing against other high scoring companies from Asia Pacific, Africa, the Americas and Arabia. The ultimate World’s Best in each category will be unveiled when the final results are revealed at London’s Savoy Hotel on December 12th.

Ben Muscat, MIDI’s CEO who received the award on behalf of MIDI said that winning the Mixed–use Development in Europe Award bore testament to the vision of this unique brown-field project where top quality residential, retail and commercial spaces were planned alongside large public open areas and restored heritage sites within a substantial car free zone. He added that the award was an honour for MIDI and for Malta and that they would be proud to fly the Maltese flag among the world’s best in a couple of months.
