Mr Joseph F.X. Zahra emphasised Middlesea’s commitment to the University of Malta and encouraged stronger interest and support from the local community. He said that the opening of the branch and the development of products for University students confirms Middlesea’s commitment to University students. This is in line with the company’s business philosophy of supporting and investing in education both at employee and at community level.
Professor Juanito Camilleri thanked Middlesea for its contribution and encouraged other companies to follow Middlesea’s positive and constructive example. He augured that both entities can benefit from this win-win relationship. He emphasised that it is imperative for the University to have its own funds as this will guarantee long term sustainability. He explained that the funds donated will go towards the Discover University programme which offers students the opportunity to explore the University facilities, courses and ongoing research.
Middlesea CEO Mr Alfredo Muñoz referred to the current Company CSR policy whereby Middlesea Insurance also sponsors the Bachelor of Commerce degree specialising in insurance. “We are honoured that as market leaders in the local insurance industry, we also contribute to the development of future professionals in the industry.”
Response to the branch has been very good with students showing keen interest in insurance cover and its benefits.
At the new branch, besides its standard services and products, Middlesea Insurance is also offering insurance packages which are tailored to the specific needs of University students. These include the Students’ Health plan and the Students’ Belongings insurance policies, along with attractive discounts on motor and home policies.
The Middlesea Students Health plan is designed to provide University of Malta students with a comprehensive, affordable, high quality health insurance, offering a quality alternative to the more expensive traditional health plans.
