The first technical seminar on LED Lighting in Malta, hosted by Brighter Solutions in collaboration with international speakers, Xicato, Projection Lighting and WE‐EF was held under the auspices of the Ministry for Resources and Rural Affairs.

In recent years LED Lighting has proved to be the most energy efficient form of lighting. This technology has been advancing at an exponential rate with continuous improvements in efficiency and light output.

Nowadays we can say that it has been introduced in almost all fields of applications, from domestic to commercial, retail, warehousing, offices, architectural and street lighting.

All lighting manufacturers are now converting to LED solid state lighting. The advantages of LED Lighting outnumber almost all conventional lighting technologies (incandescent, halogen) and also the compact fluorescent ‘energy saving bulbs’. Whilst being more efficient, LED have a much longer lifetime

(50,000hrs), they are not affected by multiple switching, light colour can be controlled better, LED do not emit any heat to the environment, no dangerous materials are used (such as mercury), they are directional and therefore eliminate the nuisance of light pollution. These are just some of the main advantages. Further LED come in different forms and sizes giving much greater flexibility to their use.

Home owners and designers now just have their imagination to create new ways of lighting up.

This is exactly the reason why Brighter Solutions, who has been specializing in the engineering and retail of LED lighting in Malta, decided to organize this technical seminar. We know that the lack of knowledge and understanding of this technology has brought along a lot of skepticism. This is faced not only in Malta but on the international level. A better understanding by the proficient people on the island will surely lead to a population which is truly convinced of this revolutionary lighting source.

Brighter Solutions in collaboration with Projection Lighting have been the first to introduce 100% LED lighting in the local New Look and Nine West franchise stores. It wasn’t easy to work against the hurdle of skepticism from the franchise headquarters. New Look is now seriously considering LED for all stores.

Everybody is presently investing in solar heating and photovoltaic as renewable energy resources. It is about time people understand the real benefits of LED lighting and invest in lower lighting consumption.

The benefits outweigh by far the investment needed in this case.
