It is said that the Native American Indians would crouch down and place their ear to the ground to hear the stampeding thunder of bisons’ hooves approaching. Anyone doing that in the St Julian’s area today would undoubtedly be heralded with news of fresh top-grade beef heading in their direction to where the Bouzouki Restaurant used to be.
The Joint will be opening tomorrow, Monday, and is the new place to attract meat-lovers intent on some serious protein intake in the tastiest and juiciest ways possible. The top floor commands open views of the quaintly charming Spinola Bay, while the sea-level floor offers a cosier feel enriched by an open kitchen featuring a rotisserie and grill leading onto an al fresco area clad in outdoor decking for a more marine feel.
The overall decor is aimed at comfort and accessibility with a richly smart touch. While service will be of typical levels expected by The Art of Food, it will be marked by a more homely and slightly informal approach. The menu will very obviously flaunt an exquisite selection of steaks, including Argentinean, Aberdeen Angus from Scotland, Chianina from Piedmont, Black Angus certified USDA from the US and Kobe beef from the Japanese Wagyu breed, all under one roof. All dishes will carry the creative hallmark of Chef Victor Borg, who also spares a thought for non-meat lovers with his scrumptious seafood grill. For lunchtime, the menu has a simpler and more accessible approach, catering for those wanting a quick, genuinely healthy snack. The 90-strong wine list is expertly compiled and well-balanced, offering very good value for money while leaning a bit more towards meatier reds as well as daring to suggest some unlikely examples to those willing to venture further.
The Joint seats 60 patrons comfortably inside and another 32 out-of-doors and can cater for groups or parties very efficiently. It will also be offering set-menus for the festive season, so book your staff parties now.
