Melita Customers watch over 250,000 films in 4 months

In just 4 months since the launch of Video On-Demand service, Melita has registered very encouraging customer usage patterns. OnDemand! customers have used the service more than 250,000 times during since launch with tens of thousands of hours of On-Demand content watched. The service, easily found on the Interactive TV Menu, is quickly becoming one of the most used services on Melita’s platform.

“The success of OnDemand! is extremely encouraging. The BETA testing period helped us to learn a lot about user experience and content preferences. Customers are finding it extremely simple to use and of course convenient. While content is updated on a weekly basis we are now looking at adding more content houses which will boost our content selection. Amongst the new OnDemand! series, customers can already enjoy Mad Men and Friends and will shortly include top comedy series like One Tree Hill and Big Bang Theory amongst others”, commented Ivor Micallef, TV Product Manager at Melita.

Pop star Shakira tops the music charts for 2011 with her playlist being the most viewed. The top viewership spot for a music video goes to Happiness by Alexis Jordan.

The most watched comedy series is “Weeds”, revolving around the central character of Nancy Botwin (Mary-Louise Parker), a widowed mother of two boys who starts dealing in drugs as a way to support her family, after her husband suddenly dies of a heart attack. Other hit series such as CSI Las Vegas and vampire thriller Blood Ties top the viewership charts.

Blockbuster movies Rio, Thor and Mr Popper’s Penguins top the Movie Rentals charts while Jack Black’s Gulliver’s Travels tops the High Definition rentals charts.
