Positive Session for MSE Index

The Malta Stock Exchange Index started the week with an increase of 0.4 per cent to 2,953.121 as six equities were negotiated for a value of €74,361. A total of 45 deals was carried out for a total value of €847,671 on the exchange today.

FIMBank plc was the best performer of the session as its share price gained 2.3 per cent or 0.020c to $0.870 when 54,200 shares changed hands across three deals for a total value of €35,294.

HSBC Bank Malta plc was also positive as its share price gained 0.9 per cent or 0.025c to €2.540 on two deals for a total volume of 1,100 shares and a total value of €2,776.

The share price of Bank of Valletta plc gained 0.4 per cent or 0.010c to €2.13 as 12,808 shares were negotiated across 10 deals for a total value of €27,194.

The share prices of GO plc, Malta International Airport plc and Medserv plc all remained stable.

In the corporate bond market 10 deals were carried out for a total value of €142,217. The 5.9% HSBC Bank Malta 2018 was the best performer of the session as its price gained 0.3 per cent to €105.990 on two deals with a total volume of 40,000. The other positive performer was the 5.35% Bank of Valletta 2019 which gained 0.1 per cent to €103.240 on a single deal of 15,000. The 6% Dolmen Properties 2010/13 was the only negative performer as its price dropped by 1 per cent to €99.000 on a single deal of 1,747.

In the government bond market 13 deals were carried out for a total value of €631,092. The 3.6% MGS 2013 IV was the only positive performer of the day as its price gained 0.1 per cent to €102.370 on a single deal of 5,000. On the other hand the 5% MGS 2021 lost most ground as its price dropped by 0.09 per cent to €106.030 on two deals with a total volume of 130,000. The other negative performers were the 4.8% MGS 2016 II and the 5.2% MGS 2031.
