Malta Independent Sunday, 22 July 2012, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

The Mepa board will discuss and decide on the application for the construction of the new Oncology facility at Mater Dei Hospital on Thursday.

The board had already approved an application for the excavation of the site and the preparation for the centre. In fact, one can see that the site has already been excavated and the piles that will support the building are in place.

Meanwhile, an application has been submitted to scuttle a tugboat off the coast at Exiles in Sliema. It is understood that this will be the first wreck to be scuttled in this area.

An application has also been submitted for the demolition of a building and the construction of workshops to be used as a Carnival Village at il-Qortin in the Kordin Industrial Estate, Paola.

Finally, Kirkop local council has been granted permission to restore, conserve and interpret existing catacombs at Kirkop.
