Cinema: Dr Seuss’ The Lorax - Grumpy, Charming creature

The 3D-CGI feature Dr Seuss’ The Lorax is an adaptation of Dr. Seuss’ classic tale of a forest creature who shares the enduring power of hope. The animated adventure follows the journey of a boy as he searches for the one thing that will enable him to win the affection of the girl of his dreams. To find it he must discover the story of the Lorax, the grumpy yet charming creature who fights to protect his world.

Danny DeVito will lend his vocal talents to the iconic title character of the Lorax, while Ed Helms will voice the enigmatic Once-ler. Also bringing their talents to the film are global superstars Zac Efron as Ted, the idealistic young boy who searches for the Lorax, and Taylor Swift as Audrey, the girl of Ted’s dreams. Rob Riggle will play financial king O’Hare, and beloved actress Betty White will portray Ted’s wise Grammy Norma.

Dr Seuss’ The Lorax is the third feature created by Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment (Despicable Me, Hop).

Lay The Favourite - Good luck against jinx

In the sports gambling Mecca of Las Vegas, an exuberant ex-private dancer Beth (Rebecca Hall) arrives in search of her ultimate dream – to become a cocktail waitress.

Fate leads her to Dink (Bruce Willis), a charming, old-school gambler who seeing beyond the ditzy façade, takes a shine to Beth, recruiting her as his good luck charm, a sharp contrast to his jinx – wife Tulip!

But as luck would have it, the odds are not in Dink’s favour. As he enters a losing streak and Beth’s crush on him becomes all too apparent, he is forced to fire her. Devastated and heart-broken, she flees to New York to the ever dependable Jeremy (Joshua Jackson), working for flamboyant and illegal bookie Rosie (Vince Vaughn) who takes her to the Caribbean island of Curacao to oversee his expanding empire.

With Rosie and his operations becoming ever more out of control, Beth becomes increasing conscious of how precarious her situation is and hesitantly enlists the help of Dink and Tulip.  The stakes are high and as the friends converge, they must figure out a way to divert the potentially dangerous situation that lies ahead for all of them. Every decision counts.

Based on the memoir by Beth Raymer, Lay The Favourite stars Rebecca Hall (Vicky Cristina Barcelona), Bruce Willis, Catherine Zeta Jones (Chicago), Vince Vaughn (The Break-Up), Joshua Jackson (Bobby) and is directed by Academy Award nominated filmmaker Stephen Frears (The Queen).

The Five-Year Engagement - Interrupting marriage plans

A couple named Tom (Jason Segel) and Violet (Emily Blunt) find their wedding plans interrupted by a number of disappointments and surprises over the course of five years, as Violet is forced to move to Michigan for school and Tom becomes frustrated by missed job opportunities in this romantic comedy from producer Judd Apatow.

Nicholas Stoller directed from a script co-written by Segel, and the supporting cast includes Alison Brie,Chris Pratt, and Rhys Ifans.
