Antonello Venditti’s Unica Tour In Malta on 24 August

Malta Independent Sunday, 12 August 2012, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

Famed Italian singer-songwriter Antonello Venditti will be performing in Malta on Friday, 24 August at the MFCC Open Air Grounds in Ta’ Qali.

Organised by Stand Out Events, the upcoming concert will mark the second Malta visit by Venditti, and his return to the island after an 11-year absence.

Venditti’s concert is expected to be one of this summer’s main events, with special guests for the night including local band Winter Moods between 8pm and 9pm.

Born in Rome, Venditti is a steadfast fan of the Roma Football Club and has written several songs that helped his fame, but not only in Rome, but also throughout Italy - which goes to prove that his music bridged many social gaps and differences. This in fact helped him make a successful comeback in 2001 when Roma won their third Scudetto and Venditti released Circo Massimo.

Venditti mostly if not always, wrote and writes his own lyrics. In the mid-70s to the mid-80s, Venditti enjoyed his biggest success mainly in Italy, and was part of the cantautori (songwriters) scene of that time. At that time, he was even topping the music charts and the Italian hit parade almost on monthly basis.

Venditti’s songs are mostly melodic, harmonious, a few even dance hits in the late seventies – Sotto il Segno dei Pesci, some political manifestos, but also nostalgic views on life, memories and observations on day to day life in Italy.

Venditti’s two and a half hour concert will be packed with songs that will also feature his greatest hits such as In questo mondo di ladri, Amici mai, Altamarea, Le tue mani su di me, Ricordati di me and more.

Venditti is expected to draw a large crowd in view of his considerable following in Malta and Gozo. Moreover, the concert should also entice Italian tourists, since Venditti also attracts a large, loyal following all across Italy.

Concert ticket prices are as follows: Bronze Standing – €25, Silver Standing – €40, Gold Seated – €80 and Platinum VIP Seated – €150.

Tickets start from as little as €25 euros, but for those who are after a truly special night, Platinum VIP tickets are at €150 euros and provide for VIP parking, optimal seating, free gifts, VIP treatment and the opportunity to meet and greet Antonello Venditti in person.
