ŻiguŻajg closes today with spectacular celebration parade

A spectacular celebration parade will be wrapping up the second edition of the ZiguZajg Festival for Children and Young People, which is currently taking place in various venues throughout Valletta.

The parade will be taking place in the capital city today between 3.30pm and 4.30pm.

Commenting on the activity, ZiguZajg Festival Artistic Director Toni Attard said that the parade will, “Bring together youth groups, professional dancers and musicians, and the result of this collective creative input will be a rousing end to the ZiguZajg Festival, a celebration of the expression of art for children and young people, and Valletta’s landmark title of European Capital of Culture in 2018. The parade is the result of our close collaboration with Agenzija Zghazagh and V18”.

Ten youth groups are currently involved in building gigantic puppets which will parade along Republic Street. The puppets, who will be accompanied by musicians from the Big Band Brothers and Tisbit, will eventually join up with dance groups who will be performing in front of the Law Courts. The whole parade will then proceed towards St. George’s Square.

The dance schools participating in the celebration parade, which is being choreographed and directed by RedTape Dance Company, include Dance Academy, Dance Workshop, Olivia Dow School of Russian Ballet, Helen Keith School of Ballet, Dance Project.
