PL leader Joseph Muscat has gone back from his decision and has now accepted Xarabank’s invitation to take part in a debate with Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi being held Friday at 8.40pm.

When contacted, Xarabank presenter and Where’s Everybody director Peppi Azzopardi said: “Dr Muscat has just confirmed that he will be participating in the debate.”

Asked if the conditions of the programme were changed to suit the PL leader, Mr Azzopardi replied in the negative.

Labour had claimed that the programme was too long and suggested to reduce the duration to one hour specifically for the debate. The producers had turned down the offer.

Yesterday, Mr Azzopardi had said that the invitation remains open till the end. Today, Dr Muscat confirmed he will take part.

The programme on TVM will start at 8.40pm and finish as usual at 11pm.

Alternattiva Demokratika chairman Michael Briguglio will also take part.
