Christopher Sammut, 41, of Lija, was remanded in custody after being charged with two separate cases of theft in the same week.

Magistrate Doreen Clarke heard that Mr Sammut stole an amount of cash from Fino Ferramenta and Choices, both in Pieta’.

The man is said to have stolen an amount which does not exceed €2,329.37 in each case, between 29 and 30 April, and 7 and 8 April.

He was also charged with committing another theft of three laptops from Anteprima Brand International, damaging property and relapsing during the operative period of two probation orders given last year.

 Prosecution was led by inspector Geoffrey Azzopardi.
