The Gozo Tourism Association said it welcomes the announcement by the Minister for Gozo, Anton Refalo, that the call for expression of interest to develop a yacht marina and cruise liner berthing facilities in Gozo has already attracted a number of interested companies in these two infrastructural projects.
The Gozo Minister yesterday announced that 12 companies, local and international, had expressed interest in the project.
“The government’s intention to issue the call for expression of interest, to develop a yacht marina and cruise liner berthing facilities in Gozo, is ample proof that more access to Gozo is on top of the government’s agenda.
“This further confirms that the government fully understands the issue of accessibility to and from Gozo and is actively acting on it,” the GTA said.
The Gozo Tourism Association, firmly believes that the future of the tourism industry on Gozo relies also on more accessibility to the Island. It is encouraging to note that all options, are being considered and worked on.
Since its inception way back in 1999, the Gozo Tourism Association has been harping on the introduction of other means of access to Gozo, as the Association is fully aware that increasing the accessibility to the island through, safe, sustainable, and reliable sea and air links, will also open up other tourism opportunities, which will be beneficial to all concerned.
