Air Malta carries a fair bit of politicians who are on their travels, but on Thursday night, the national carrier played host to a different kind of shark.

An Air Malta flight from London to Malta carried five black tip reef sharks and a host of other exotic fish destined for the Malta National Aquarium. The fish arrived safely at their destination and are now swimming gracefully in their new home.

In a statement, the Malta National Aquarium said that it wishes to thank Air Malta for their efficient and professional service.  

The Malta National Aquarium is carrying out its final preparations and will soon open its doors to the general public.  The national aquarium, situated beneath the landmark starfish dome in Qawra will house species from the Mediterranean and Indian oceans, including different species of sharks.
