The medical report of Martin Galea, the former AFM Captain who was abducted and held for eleven days in Libya last month, has been updated and now takes note of a number of small wounds found on his head and hand. These wounds corroborate Martin’s story of being the victim of violence during his captivity.
In an exclusive interview with The Malta Independent, Martin had claimed that he had been hit on the head with a wooden knife handle and that he was forced to hit himself in the hand with a piece of wood with rusty nails sticking out. Our journalists were shown these wounds which, for some strange reason were not mentioned in the report.
GWU organ L-Orizzont tried to discredit Martin’s story last week and said that no mention of Martin’s wounds was made in the report. But Mr Galea has since managed to contact the doctor who had examined him and asked for the report to be amended.

An addendum to the report, which was given to this paper with Mr Galea's consent, notes that Martin bore a frontoparietal abrasion, which is an abrasion on his head, and multiple small wounds on the palm of his right hand. According to Martin, the examining doctor had not deliberately omitted these details but had overlooked them since he was focusing on identifying any brain injuries. None were found. The added paragraph in the report should now close this chapter once and for all.
Mr Galea has also expressed his wish to refrain from giving any more comments to the media. “My wife and I just want to get on with our lives now.”
