Federica Falzon song 'Diamonds' for 2014 Eurovision Song Contest in Malta released today

Friday, 17 October 2014, 12:24 Last update: about 11 years ago

Public Broadcasting Services Ltd., earlier today  launched the song "Diamonds" which will represent Malta in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest.

"Diamonds", sung by Federica Falzon was officially presented during a launch today at St Benedict's College in Hal Kirkop.  More than 300 students that attend the college with Federica Falzon were present for the launch.

Elton Zarb, Matthew (Muxu) Mercieca, Gillian Attard and Federica Falzon co-wrote the song.  Zarb, Mercieca and Attard are the same trio that were responsible for last year's winning song "The Start".

The video which was recently shot in Malta, is about this ambitious imaginative girl who reaches her visions. The style is surreal, abstract and creative. It takes place in two different locations.  The first location shows Federica in a white room.  This room represents the girl's mind.  The second location is at the beach; the place where the girl is looking for her dreams.

The song and the video use diamonds as a metaphor to suggest that no dream is out of reach as long as one believes in one's own dreams.  "The song inspired me immediately! I also have many dreams.  Though at first some dreams may seem out of reach, if one works on them, they may become possible and reachable" said Nadya Cachia, the video director.

The video of the song Diamonds was produced and directed by VSquared Media and Entertainment for PBS Ltd.  The Junior Eurovision Song Contest will take place in Malta on Saturday, 15 November 2014.
