150 high-end apartments at the Hilltop Gardens in Naxxar are set to be leased as of September 2015 when the residential care home will be completed.
The €43 million project provides one and two bedroom apartments, studio apartments and penthouses which can be leased for a period up to 50 years, for those aged 60 and over. Hilltop Village is located on the outskirts of Naxxar.
Construction works started in May of this year, and are to be completed in January, with the first residents set to be welcomed in the last quarter of next year. The residential home offers shelter for those who are able to live independently as well as those who need assistance day to day. A residential day care home, with a 24 hour GP service, will accommodate those with a high level of dependency.
Hilltops Gardens will also include a dedicated ward for patients of dementia, designed with the specific criteria, while the respite care service team will be offering planned short term breaks.
Residents will be able to make use of various facilities, including the library, garden, lounges, fitness room, swimming pool, spa and clinic. A shuttle service will transfer residents to Naxxar’s square. CCTV cameras will be installed across the building.

Angelo Xuereb, chairman of AX Holdings explained how this project is set to offer residents the highest level of multi-disciplinary professional care, the highest quality of services and will be guaranteeing dignity through high quality independent living.
Minister for Family and Social Solidarity Michael Farrugia noted that the project allows for active ageing, and allows residents to form part of the community. In the upcoming years, dementia occurrences are set to double, and residential homes need to cater services accordingly.
