Malta closes its embassy in Denmark, bilateral relations to be covered from The Hague

As part of a continuous evaluation exercise on Malta’s Diplomatic Residencies abroad, the Government of Malta has decided to close down its resident Embassy in Denmark, with effect from 1 February 2015. Bilateral relations between the Republic of Malta and the Kingdom of Denmark will subsequently start being covered from the resident Embassy of Malta in The Hague, the Department of Information said.

This decision, taken predominantly on financial considerations, was communicated to the Danish Government earlier last month through normal Diplomatic channels. The Government of Malta takes the opportunity to reaffirm its commitment to further strengthen the excellent relations between Malta and Denmark.

The Department of Information did not say what role the charge d’affairs in Denmark, Deborah Attard Montalto, has been given
