Q3 2014: Salaries, working hours up 2.6%, 0.5% compared to Q3 2013

In the third quarter of 2014, working-day adjusted turnover in selected services activities increased by 3.2 per cent over the corresponding period of 2013. Provisional seasonally adjusted services turnover increased by 4.1 per cent, the NSO said today.

Working-day adjusted turnover in the third quarter of 2014 went up by 3.2 per cent when compared to the same quarter of 2013. Turnover increased in real estate activities (+19.8 per cent), accommodation and food service activities (+13.0 per cent), wholesale trade (+9.9 per cent), motor trade (+1.2 per cent) and retail trade (+1.0 per cent). However, decreases were registered in administrative and support services activities (-8.5 per cent), information and communication (-6.5 per cent), transportation and storage (-5.0 per cent) and professional, scientific and technical activities (-3.4 per cent).

Employment, gross wages and salaries and hours worked increased by 0.2, 2.6 and 0.5 per cent respectively over the comparative quarter of 2013.

Quarterly comparison

Seasonally adjusted turnover in the third quarter of 2014 increased by 4.1 per cent over the previous quarter. Increases were registered in real estate activities (+36.8 per cent), accommodation and food service activities (+11.4 per cent), wholesale trade (+6.6 per cent), information and communication (+3.8 per cent), administrative and support services activities (+2.8 per cent) and professional, scientific and technical activities (+1.4 per cent). On the other hand, declines were registered in transportation and storage (-4.4 per cent), motor trade (-1.8 per cent) and retail trade (-0.2 per cent).

Seasonally adjusted employment, gross wages and salaries and hours worked decreased by 1.9, 0.2 and 0.4 per cent respectively over the previous quarter.
