Parliamentary Secretary for the Rights of Persons with a Disability Justyne Caruana today announced that the list of persons waiting to enter a residential home has decreased by 4% when compared to the previous year. The waiting list of persons waiting to be examined to establish whether they are eligible to enter a residential home has also decreased from 70% to 41%.

She was speaking in Mosta during the inauguration of a hair salon at the elderly residential home which was constructed by employees of the Department of the Elderly and Community Care.

She said that the government is committed to embarking on various projects at elderly homes. She said that 68 elderly persons who reside at the Mosta home will benefit from this new project.

Elderly residential homes which will benefit from renovation works include the ones in Mosta, Zejtun Mellieha, Bormla, Mtarfa, Msida and Floriana.
