Transport Minister Joe Mizzi challenged the Opposition in Parliament tonight following a line of questioning relating to road works in Zabbar.

He said he knew where the PN were going with their line of questioning regarding a rural road, stating that the PN insinuated that it was resurfaced for his personal needs.

Opposition MP Marthese Portelli had asked why this road was given priority. The Minister said he had images of cars stopping and persons taking photos of the road, after which a "well-known" person had asked people for the field the Minister had for sale.

He argued that the Opposition attempted to convince newspapers to run the story however none accepted. He added that the work done was through EU funds and that he had a right to travel wherever he wanted to. "I am not Giovanna Debono". He stressed that the works were not specifically done for him, challenging the Opposition to bring proofs forward if they had evidence of corruption.
