On 1 July, customers will be able to benefit from reduced fares when using their tallinja card on the public transport network operated by Malta Public Transport. The new fares will also come into effect on 1 July.
More than 100,000 people have so far registered for the tallinja card of which more than 40,000 are Kartanzjan holders. The response from the public has been very encouraging and has exceeded expectations.
As of tomorrow Wednesday 17 June, customers will begin receiving their tallinja card by post. Cards will not be distributed through the local councils as previously announced. Due to the exceptional response, a decision has been taken to simplify the customers' experience by sending the cards by post albeit at an increased cost to the Company. Enclosed with the cards is an informational leaflet explaining the different methods for topping up ones card.
Customers may top up their card immediately to ensure they have sufficient credit when using their card. There are four different methods by which customers may top up their credit including online, by using a top up voucher and calling a special number, by visiting any MaltaPost post office and by visiting any one of the ticket booths of Malta Public Transport. Top up vouchers may be purchased from more than 1,000 outlets across Malta and Gozo including Agenda Bookshops and 8 Till Late Convenience as well as most stationers.
Malta Public Transport would like to urge the general public to register for their card to benefit from the best rate when using the bus as of July.
For more information, customers may call on 2122 2000 or visit tallinja.com.
