In view of the monstrosity being built on HayWharf in front of the Valletta and Floriana bastions, Alternttiva Demokratika Chairperson, Prof. Arnold Cassola, said today: "We appeal to the authorities to halt the building immediately and to demolish the concrete that has marred the bastions of the World Heritage site of Valletta. 

"The Maltese government cannot continue using Maltese taxpayers' money to destroy our common historical and architectural heritage.  The EU authorities should also investigate whether European taxpayers' money is being used to uglify Floriana and Valletta".

Carmel Cacopardo, AD - Deputy Chairperson and spokesperson for Sustainable Development  said that the preferential treatment which the planning process grants to the Armed Forces on grounds of National Security is being abused of.  "The permit should be withdrawn immediately".
