Malta Tourism Authority invites three famous American authors to experience the Maltese Islands

Thursday, 25 June 2015, 15:21 Last update: about 10 years ago

The Malta Tourism Authority said today that Chris Kuzneski, Graham Brown and Boyd Morrison, who are three famous American authors, have been invited to spend one week in Malta as part of the MTA’s endeavour to promote the Maltese Islands in the discerning American market.

Chris Kuzneski is the author of 10 international bestsellers and currently has his eleventh book on its way. Mr Kuzneski has sold millions of books and his novels have been translated into 25 different languages. In addition, this coming winter, the filming of ‘The Hunters’ will be based on his latest series.

Prior to taking up a career as an authority, Graham Brown used to be a pilot and a lawyer. Graham’s first novel debuted in 2010 and he has gone on to write several thrillers and currently co-writes the NUMA files in collaboration with Clive Cussler.  Their second collaboration, “The Storm”, debuted at Number 1 on the New York Times bestselling list.

Boyd Morrison is an international bestselling author, who has recently collaborated with Clive Cussler on an action-packed thriller titled “Piranha”. This book, which was released earlier this month, debuted at Number 3 on the New York Times bestsellers. He has also developed his own series – the “Tyler Locke Adventures” – and has also published other stand-alone thrillers.

Chris Kuzneski was selected by the MTA, since in a large proportion of his thrillers he mentions Malta. The MTA was alerted to this by an avid reader, and in the hope that Chris Kuzneski will base the story of his next book in Malta, the MTA invited the Florida writer to personally experience the Maltese Islands firsthand.

Brown and Morrison were invited at a later stage to join Kuzneski, with the main objective of having the authors getting to know the country, namely its history and culture and to mingle with the locals so as to get a better idea of what Malta can offer to its visitors.

All three authors are writers in the thriller-action genre, and the MTA hopes that their stay in Malta will spark their inspiration.

The three authors, who arrived earlier this week, will be taken to visit St John’s Co-Cathedral, the Museum of Archaeology, the Maritime Museum, Mdina, Gozo, Marsaxlokk as well as other relevant touristic hotspots and places of interest. They will also be taking part in a book signing event at Agenda Bookshop in Tigne Point on Saturday 27th June, with fans of these authors being encouraged to turn up to meet them and get their books signed.

Speaking about the visit of the three American authors, MTA CEO Paul Bugeja said that: “The US market is being very receptive of MTA’s marketing efforts and these have continued to intensify in 2015, mainly concentrating on participation in International Travel Fairs and Exhibitions as well as a vast program of PR and marketing efforts with US tour operators, online travel agents, group organizers and tourism industry media which MTA has identified as the fastest and most effective channels to reach the US international traveler considering trips to Europe.

Mr Bugeja added that: “The visit of these 3 famous American authors adds another dimension to MTA’s efforts in the American market as they have already mentioned Malta in their writings and have the potential of further showcasing the Maltese Islands’ history and attractions directly with millions of readers in the US and around the globe through the stories and novels they will be writing in the years to come”
