A nurse who was working at the Paola Health Centre yesterday evening recounted the moment patients started arriving from Hal Farrug, following the horrific crash at the Paqpaqli ghall-Istrina event.
Speaking to The Malta Independent this morning, Charge Nurse Rose Bonello said many of the wounded had tissue injuries and abrasions. Two patients who were suffering from head injuries were referred to Mater Dei Hospital.
Ms Bonello said the Paola health staff were told well in advance about the incident and the possible arrival of patients and everyone was in place when the first casualties arrived.
“People who were out on break were called back in. Everyone rose to the occasion and everything went smoothly when the patients were brought in.”
