“It was a dream come true,” Redent Falzon, the Maltese Elvis Presley told The Malta Independent today after he won the European Elvis Championships 2016 in Birmingham last Sunday.
He was one of 65 contestants in the competition. It was the third time that he took part.
Mr Falzon said that he has been impersonating the ‘King of Rock and Roll’ for the past 10 years. He started his singing carrier at a very young age; however when he was 23 years old he was approached by an artist who told him that his voice is very similar to Elvis. Mr Falzon said that since that day he started listening to Elvis music and watched many videos of Elvis shows to learn more about choreography, moves and style.

“I always knew who Elvis was because music of the 1960s is my favourite.” Mr Falzon said it is not easy at all to impersonate Elvis but practice makes perfect.
“For me this was a dream come true since this is the biggest Elvis Tribute event in Europe,” Mr Falzon said.
He added that he “achieved what I have been working for in the last four years. When I heard my name (as the winner) I felt very emotional.”
His dream now is to go to Memphis in US, where Elvis was born, and perform in Elvis shows there.
