“A Dialogue Between Broken Pieces,” an exhibition of mosaic works by Raymond Aquilina and Flavia Marmarà will be held at the Razzett tal-Markiz in Mosta between 13 and 28 February.

The exhibition is being presented by the Ghaqda Filantropika Talent Mosti.

Raymond Aquilina and Flavia Marmarà are two colleagues who share a passion for the art of mosaics.

(Flavia Marmarà)

Mr Aquilina is from Rabat and has always been fascinated by the mosaic works found at the Roman Villa. He would frequently visit the site to admire the precise and patience-requiring work.

Mrs Marmara` was exposed to the arts from an early age through her mother’s painting work. The art classes she attended instilled in her an artistic and imaginative spirit.

(Raymond Aquilina)

Flavia and Raymond have practiced the art of mosaics for over 20 years after attending a course by artist Alfred Briffa.

They use different materials and techniques to create original works and designs. Their works are primarily inspired by nature and the cultural heritage of countries they visit.

The upcoming exhibition will also include works inspired by their experience in Ravenna in Italy, where they attended a mosaic course by Luciana Notturni.

The artists have titled their exhibition ‘A dialogue between broken pieces’ because, for them the art represents the harmony that can be achieved by the different, and sometimes contrasting pieces they use.

(Raymond Aquilina)

The dialogue between the pieces represents the final image that conveys a message full of emotions and the artists’ thoughts.

The exhibition opening times are:

Monday to Saturday – 6.30pm to 8pm

Sundays – 10am till noon and 6.30pm to 8pm
