Nationalist Party candidate Ryan Mercieca today filed a libel suit against it-Torċa following a report last Sunday in which it was claimed he was in a mess for failing to produce documents related to EU funding to an association of NGOs.

In a statement, Mr Mercieca said that since the PN announced his candidature, Union Print embarked on a campaign aimed at tarnishing his reputation and destroying the respect he enjoyed among Gozitnas.

He said that his participation in associations had always been, and would remain, for the benefit of Gozitans.

The suit was signed by lawyer Roberto Montalto.
