Two Parliamentary Questions this week have revealed that Ann Fenech, through Fenech and Fenech Advocates, received over €900,000 in direct orders under the previous administration.

Dr Fenech is president of the Nationalist Party's executive council.

Tourism Minister Edward Zammit Lewis tabled a document in Parliament, which states that Fenech and Fenech advocates received €510,000 through 150 direct orders between 2004 and March 2013.

Most of the direct order work was done for Air Malta. A few of the direct orders dealt with the Azzurra Air Bankruptcy (A subsidiary company of Air Malta).

A government spokesperson also highlighted another set of answers in Yesterday’s Parliamentary session, answered by Economy Minister Chris Cardona. The response shows a number of direct orders and agreements amounting to over €400,000. The spokesperson said that these were also to Dr Fenech.

The questions were asked by Dr Godfrey Farrugia.

When contacted by The Malta Independent, Ann Fenech saidthat she has never ever done any aviation work of any type either for Air Malta or anyone else because she does not practice aviation law.

Dr Fenech said she was appointed Managing Partner of the firm in 2008 and any implied allegation that the services rendered by the firm to the national airline in the past were in any way connected to her is baseless.

The firm has unparalleled experience and expertise in aviation law matters.  The ranking of Fenech & Fenech as one of the leading law firms in Malta by independent publications such as Legal 500 and Chambers is testament to this.
