An 85-year-old woman was evacuated from her home this morning, after a fire broke out in a kitchen situated in a room on the roof of a Pembroke home.
A possible lightning strike could be the cause of a fire in a Pembroke residence, witnesses told The Malta Independent, however Civil Protection Department (CPD) officials, who said they have not yet concluded their investigation, were unable to confirm. The police, however said it was probably due to an electircal short.
The fire occurred in a residence on Walter Ganado Street, opposite ITS.
No further information is available at this time.

Malta was hit by a brief hailstorm last night, just a day after the Met office said last February was the warmest and driest February since 1923.
