Labour MP Silvio Schembri, together with his wife Deandra Schembri, today won €3,000 in libel damages against PN media over reports that Mrs Schembri was given a job with the MFSA through favouritism.
The case, filed in 2014, followed a number of reports in PN media that Mr and Mrs Schembri had eight government jobs between them.
Magistrate Francesco Depasquale, who presided over the case, found that an article which appeared on the PN newspaper in-Nazzjon was libellous. The court ordered Alexander Attard, as editor of the paper, and Matthew Bonnet, to pay Mr and Mrs Schembri €3,000 in damages.
