Finance Minister Edward Scicluna has been informed by the Tax Commissioner that in the course of ongoing investigations regarding the Panama Papers leak, it has transpired that the wife of a Tax Department employee has been named.
“Although for now it appears that the company was opened before they were married, the Commissioner has taken precautionary measures until all necessary investigations have concluded,” reads a press release issued by the Finance Ministry this evening.
The employee has cooperated fully with the Tax Department and is currently on leave.
