Joseph Muscat insulting the people’s intelligence over gas tanker issue - PN

Monday, 8 August 2016, 17:31 Last update: about 9 years ago

By comparing the gas tanker with a merchandise vessel, Joseph Muscat is insulting the people's intelligence, Shadow Minister for Energy and Transport Marthese Portelli stated in a statement released this evening.

The PN said that there is one important and basic difference between the two, that the tanker will be berthed permanently in Marsaxlokk while the merchandise vessel which entered the Freeport stays in Malta only for a few hours to bring in more supplies to the country.

"The truth is that Malta does not need a new Power Station and with it, a gas tanker berthed only a few metres away from where people live. With the Power Station done under the PN government in 2012 and with the interconnector with the rest of Europe, the Maltese public can enjoy enough energy with low prices."

She said that this tanker will only be a monument of Muscat's corruption.
