The Nationalist Party will soon announce the details of its proposals related to the setting up of a tram which could help out in reducing the ever persisting traffic problem.

Dr Simon Busuttil told journalists that the Nationalist Party has been studying this particular proposal for the last year.

Pressed by journalists, Simon Busuttil did not mention the cost or when the project will be announced but said that the proposal shows that the PN has a clear vision.

He said the Nationalist Party came up with a plan to address the huge traffic problems as this government failed to come up with serious proposals.

Dr Busuttil explained that rather than a tram, the PN is proposing a light railway, which, if geologically feasible, connects Malta with Gozo.

“Our plan is to have a state-of-the-art light railway system,” he added.

Dr Busuttil had proposed the light railway system while addressing the crowd on the eve of Independence Day in Floriana. His proposal comes after the PN had presented a list of proposals on traffic, penned by spokesperson for transport Marthese Portelli.
