A new law to fight corruption in football and other sport is being drawn up and is expected to be presented before Parliament shortly, outgoing Malta Football Association secretary general Bjorn Vassallo said.

Interviewed by Online Editor Stephen Calleja on INDEPTH, The Malta Independent’s online programme, Mr Vassallo said the law is being drafted by a special task force that has been meeting regularly for the past 18 months.

The law comes in the wake of an investigation by FIFA into possible irregularities following the Lithuania-Malta World Cup 2018 qualifying match.

Mr Vassallo will be leaving the MFA at the end of this month to join the team being built by new FIFA president Gianni Infantino.
